Solton Manor, the historic wedding venue in East Langdon near Dover, has been awarded Bronze in the Business category of the 2025–2026 Wilder Kent Business Awards, recognising organisations that are actively supporting biodiversity and protecting Kent’s natural landscapes.

Supporting Biodiversity and Sustainable Weddings in Kent

The Business category, first introduced as a pilot in 2024, celebrates forward-thinking organisations that are embedding sustainable practices into their operations while supporting environmental initiatives within their local communities. These businesses recognise that thriving nature and a resilient climate are essential to creating a sustainable future and a Wilder Kent.

As a historic exclusive-use country house estate set within the Kent countryside, Solton Manor has always been closely connected to the landscape that surrounds it. The gardens, meadow, orchard, wildlife pond, woodland and historic setting form an important part of the experience for couples who travel from across Kent, the UK and beyond to celebrate their weddings at the destination venue.

Increasingly, couples are seeking wedding venues in Kent that respect and protect the natural environment, making thoughtful stewardship of the land an important part of how historic estates like Solton Manor look towards the future.

“We are absolutely delighted to receive this recognition in the Wilder Kent Business Awards. Solton Manor has been part of the Kent landscape for centuries, and caring for the environment around us is something we take seriously as a team. The gardens, orchards and surrounding countryside form such an important part of the experience for couples who marry here, so protecting and nurturing that landscape is both a privilege and a responsibility. I would also like to thank Will, our Bar Manager for championing the application and helping ensure Solton Manor is recognised as part of this important initiative, supporting a Wilder Kent.

Solton Manor’s connection to the land stretches back centuries. First recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, the estate has long been part of the Kent landscape, evolving from a working manor into the carefully restored heritage venue couples experience today. That long history brings with it a sense of responsibility to protect the surrounding countryside, gardens and wildlife that make this corner of Kent so distinctive.

The 2025–2026 Wilder Kent Awards recognised a number of organisations demonstrating environmental leadership across the county:

The award comes at a pivotal moment for Solton Manor, as the estate continues to invest in both its historic fabric and the natural landscape that frames it. Recent works include the careful refurbishment of the Dovecote Cottage, the introduction of a woodland ceremony setting, and the addition of a new ground-floor accessible ensuite bedroom, bringing the total bedrooms to 13.

Solton Manor congratulates all the organisations and businesses recognised in this year’s awards and looks forward to continuing its contribution towards protecting the landscape, wildlife and heritage that make Kent such a special place.
