Our Story

Steeped in History

The story of Solton Manor offers a rich history that we adore unravelling and we are endlessly proud of our heritage.  Over one thousand years old and dating back to the time of the Doomesday survey of 1086, the story goes that the brother of Henry VIII once stayed at Solton Manor - and we are now thrilled to have continued accommodating and entertaining guests over the years.

Having been born at the house, Sir John Finet, later inherited the Manor after his Great Grandfather moved to England with Cardinal Campeggio (who married Catherine of Aragon's Maid-of-Honour).  Sir John Finet's portrait by Tintorello, now hangs proudly in the Nation Portairt-Glallery.  The Manor then moved into the hands of Arthur Burr and later it became a working farm before it was purchased in 1991 and during 2007, the barn was extensively transformed into a wedding venue.

Now, as we enter 2023, our loyal and highly experienced team, provide an exceptional service that is hard to beat, pouring passion into the weddings we host and establishing a bond with every couple we work with.  We will offer ou our expertise on how you can make the most of the space on offer, delivering personalised luxury with every step of your wedding planning journey.

Your Forever story starts here at Solton Manor.
