The Old Stables now offers an all-weather indoor option
The transformation underscores Solton Manor’s continued commitment to enhancing the experience for its couples and guests. Set within nine acres of countryside and steeped in over 1000 years of history, the Old Stables now offers an all-weather indoor option while retaining its original charm, including striking flint walls, original beams, and a newly laid York flagstone floor for timeless appeal.
As more couples seek flexible ceremony options and peace of mind, this space now provides a perfect Plan B for inclement weather or a romantic winter wedding. The Old Stables offers the best of both worlds, modern comfort blended with heritage character.
This exciting project was made possible with support from Dover District Council, who awarded Solton Manor £30,403 as part of the UK Government’s Rural England Prosperity Fund, one of 15 local businesses selected for funding.
Karen, the Estate Manager at Solton Manor, shared her excitement about the latest development:
“We’re thrilled to introduce The Old Stables as a new indoor ceremony option. It gives couples greater flexibility and peace of mind, whatever the weather. While outdoor ceremonies remain popular, particularly in the much-loved Godric’s Garden, this space provides a beautiful alternative that’s full of warmth, character, and history.”
She continued:
“Bringing The Old Stables to life has been incredibly rewarding. We’ve worked closely with Historic England and Dover District Council to ensure the original character was preserved, from the flintwork to the timber beams. With the help of local talent and the support of the funding, we’ve created a space that feels both timeless and welcoming and we were delighted to hear one booked couple at the launch say, ‘I don’t mind now if it rains!’.”
With a capacity of up to 130 guests, The Old Stables is now a year-round ceremony space. Wedding and Events Coordinator Jackie is excited to showcase the new addition to both new and returning couples.
