How do I get to Solton Manor?
Solton Manor is just off the A258 between Dover and Deal. From Dover, follow the A258 towards Deal. After about 1.5 miles, turn left towards East Langdon, then take the first left, signed Solton Manor. Please follow signs for the venue rather than Solton Manor Farm. On-site parking is available. Solton Manor Kent Wedding Venue behind the large Dutch Barn.
If you’re travelling by train, Martin Mill is the nearest station, but it has no taxi rank, so please arrange a taxi in advance. Dover Priory has more frequent services and is around 15 minutes away by car.
Solton Manor provides ample on-site parking for all guests, ensuring convenient access to the venue.
There are two carparks:
Guests are welcome to leave their vehicles overnight, however, we kindly request that all cars be collected by Midday the following day.

Where are wedding cars permitted to drive at Solton Manor?

Whether there’s a charge for cutting and serving your wedding cake will depend on your chosen caterer. We recommend discussing this with them in advance, particularly if you’d like your cake served as part of your wedding breakfast or evening celebrations.
We do not cut up wedding cake as this is a skill that we don’t feel qualified to do.
Do you provide wedding cake stands?
Yes! At Solton Manor, we have two beautiful, traditional solid silver cake stands available:
However, your wedding cake designer will often provide a stand specifically suited to the size, weight and design of your cake. They will usually arrange to collect it the following day.
What happens to any leftover wedding cake?
If there’s cake left at the end of your wedding celebrations, we can place it in the fridge overnight, provided it’s suitable for refrigerated storage.
A little tip from us: Don’t forget to ask about any leftover cake before you leave the following morning. It’s surprisingly easy to forget about it after all the excitement!
And if you’re planning to send guests home with a slice of wedding cake, remember to organise individual cake boxes or bags so they can take their treats home safely.

We don’t organise food tastings directly, but we strongly recommend arranging one with your chosen wedding caterer.

How do you book a wedding food tasting?
Once you’ve chosen your caterer, please share with us who you have booked and then we recommend contacting them directly to discuss their tasting arrangements.
Some caterers may offer group tasting events, while others arrange individual appointments. Availability, menus, guest numbers and any charges will depend on the caterer.
Can we take family or friends to our food tasting?
This will depend on your chosen caterer’s arrangements. If you want to take parents, family members or friends, please check with your caterer when booking, as additional charges may apply.
A little tip from us: A food tasting isn’t just about choosing your favourite dishes. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to discuss presentation, portion sizes, dietary requirements and how your wedding breakfast will be served and how long it will take.
We recommend arranging your tasting well before your Final Details Meeting, usually six months before so you can confirm your menu choices and catering arrangements with our team.

Absolutely. We always prioritise working with trusted local suppliers who share our values, from florists using seasonal blooms to caterers who champion Kentish produce and reduce food waste wherever possible.
We work directly with three catering companies
However, if for cultural or religious reasons you would prefer to bring in your own catering company we charge a dry hire fee per person to cover the cost of using our kitchen, hot water, heating etc. Please ask for a Dry Hire Wedding Quote.
Please note we do not offer dry hire on drink but you can supply corkage, which is charged per bottle of 75 cl for wine and bubbles.

For a personalised quotation, simply tell us your preferred wedding date, approximate daytime and evening guest numbers, and whether you’d like accommodation included.

To secure your wedding date at Solton Manor, a £1,000 retainer is required. This payment reserves your chosen date exclusively and removes it from our diary. As the date is taken off the market, the retainer is non-refundable. Payment can be made by credit card or BACS transfer.
An interim payment is then scheduled midway between payment of the retainer and your wedding date.
Approximately six weeks before your wedding, we invite you to attend a final planning meeting — in person, by telephone, or via video call — to confirm your key details, including your timeline, supplier arrangements and final guest numbers. Once your guest numbers are confirmed (please remember to include yourselves), the remaining balance is due one month prior to your celebration.
For added flexibility, we also offer a monthly instalment option, allowing you to spread the cost in a structured and manageable way.
We strongly recommend that all couples take out comprehensive wedding insurance to provide additional peace of mind.
Before deciding to cancel your wedding, we encourage you to explore all your options and carefully consider whether the challenges are related to budget or other concerns.

ALL cancellations must be in writing to Solton Manor, Solton Lane, East Langdon, Dover, CT15 5JB or by email to [email protected] and please copy in Kent County Council Wedding Team [email protected] at the same time. The email must include both of your emails.

Solton Manor is licensed for Civil Marriages and Partnerships.
As an Approved Wedding Venue between Dover and Deal in Kent, we are delighted to host your wedding outside in Godric’s Garden, Finets Woodland or inside Solton Manor in the Old Stables or within the Dutch Barn for a maximum of 150 people.
However, our venue hire does not include your licence-to-marry fees with Kent County Council (KCC). To understand KCC fees, please follow this link.
At what time can we get married?
Civil marriages and partnerships may occur between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on any day of the week, including weekends and bank holidays. The latest start time for a ceremony is 5 p.m. For a spring, summer, autumn or winter wedding, we recommend getting married at 1:00 pm. However, we can be flexible.
What is the process once you book Solton Manor?
Once you book Solton Manor for your wedding, thank you. We will reserve the date and time of your ceremony with KCC. Please note that this will require us to share your data.
We will share the booking reference number with you once the date and time have been reserved with KCC. The KCC team will then contact you to pay for their services; this may take up to two weeks. If after 14 days you haven’t heard anything, please email [email protected]
This very much depends on the package you’ve chosen, but as standard, our hire at Solton Manor typically includes:
– Exclusive use of the venue
– Indoor and outdoor tables and chairs
– Linen (tablecloths and napkins)
– Glassware, cutlery, and crockery for your wedding breakfast
Some packages may also include drinks packages, styling, and accommodation. Our team will always provide a clear breakdown so you know exactly what’s included in your quote.
Your quote does not include Kent County Council fees to get married.
Yes, Solton Manor offers a luxurious Pamper Suite in the Bell Tower Barn for you and your besties to prepare for your wedding day.
The suite, is located in the East Wing of the Manor House, is a beautifully designed space where you can relax and prepare in comfort and style.
It’s fully equipped with everything you need, including plenty of natural light for hair and makeup, comfortable seating, and mirrors to make getting ready a special part of your day. This room is available from 7 a.m. on the day of your wedding and includes hooks for your wedding and bridesmaid dresses.
Please ask your suppliers to park in the large carpark at the back of the large Dutch Barn – they need to remember when they arrive the car park might be empty but when they leave there will be other cars.
In addition to the main getting ready room there is a terrace, with a hot tub, a boot room with two fridges and a freezer.

How early should we book our wedding?
Most couples book their wedding at Solton Manor approximately 18 to 24 months in advance, giving them the best opportunity to secure their preferred date, wedding package and accommodation.
If you have your heart set on a particular date, especially a Saturday between May and September, we’d recommend getting in touch as early as possible.
Can we book a last-minute wedding at Solton Manor?
Absolutely! We welcome both last-minute weddings and celebrations planned further ahead, subject to availability.
If you’re planning a legal wedding ceremony, you’ll also need to allow enough time to complete the necessary marriage formalities.
In England and Wales, couples generally need to give at least 30 days’ notice before their marriage, although additional requirements or longer waiting periods may apply depending on individual circumstances. Registrar availability is separate from venue availability, so it’s important to check that both Solton Manor and the registrars can accommodate your chosen date and ceremony time.
A little tip from us: If you’re flexible about your wedding date, consider a weekday or a date outside peak wedding season. You may discover more availability and some attractive package options.

Yes, at Solton Manor we understand that pets are part of the family, and we’re delighted to welcome well-behaved dogs other pets to Solton Manor. 🐾 Not only for your wedding day but also they can stay overnight in the snug on the ground floor of the Manor House. Plus they can stay in the Dovecote Cottage.
However, there are a few important restrictions in place to keep all guests, two – and four-legged – comfortable and safe.
Pets are permitted but please note Kent County Council ask that they are on leads during your ceremony.

Yes — we have two microphones available in the Dutch Barn for your speeches and announcements. Our team will ensure they’re set up and ready for you before your wedding breakfast begins.
Yes — you can use smoke bombs at Solton Manor for your photography or videography, but there are a few important safety requirements you need to be aware off:
Public liability: Responsibility for their safe use rests with the couple and/or the supplier such as your photographer or videographer issuing them.
Safety measures: Like sparklers, we recommend that all smoke bombs are placed into a bucket of sand immediately after use. We are happy to supply the bucket of sand, but please ask for this to be placed near to where the planned smoke bombs are to be ignited so there isn’t a panic when you want to take the shot. If, for example, five smoke bombs are used, please ensure all five are safely extinguished and accounted for.
Damage and liability: Any damage to the property caused by smoke bombs must be resolved by the couple. In such cases, the couples damage deposit may be used to cover reasonable costs.
Insurance: We strongly advise couples to take out wedding insurance to ensure appropriate cover.
Used responsibly, coloured smoke bombs, to match your wedding colours can create incredible images — and with these simple precautions, you can enjoy the moment safely and beautifully.

Once we have processed your legal ceremony and generated your reservation with Kent County Council, and you have paid your deposit, it is completely normal not to hear from the Kent Ceremonies Team for some time, especially if your wedding date is still a while away.
Kent County Council work in strict date order and manage a very large number of weddings across the county, so couples typically only hear from them again as their ceremony approaches.
If at any stage you would like an update, you are welcome to contact the Ceremonies Team directly using your Booking Reference. They will be able to confirm the status of your ceremony.

As a general guide for Weddings:

Yes. A dedicated Solton Manor wedding coordinator will guide you through the planning process and help make sure everything is in place for your wedding day. Your coordinator will usually be the person who leads your Final Details Meeting and supports you on the day itself.
When you book, we’ll invite you to a virtual onboarding call to introduce you to our wedding and events portal. Your coordinator can help you work through practical details such as timelines, seating plans and the paperwork for booking your ceremony with Kent County Council. They’ll also keep in touch with you and your suppliers, helping everyone stay up to date as your plans come together.
On your wedding day, your coordinator will usually arrive at 7am to open the Bell Tower Barn getting-ready suite, unless you’re staying at Solton Manor the night before. They’ll oversee the plans and the finishing touches, so you can relax and enjoy the day. After your speeches, our evening bar and events team will take over.
You’re also very welcome to join us at our open days and occasional wine-tasting events while you’re planning your celebration.
Wedding coordination is included in your venue hire. If you choose to work with an independent wedding planner, we’ll be happy to liaise with them too.
Do you offer a wine tasting?
Yes, we occasional hold wine-tasting events at Solton Manor. If you are planning a wedding at Solton Manor and would like to explore our house wines and potential upgrades speak to one of our team and we’ll advise on the next evening.
We are sorry but due to licencing laws, noise restrictions, our neighbours and fire regulations etc, fireworks, Chinese lanterns, and naked flames are prohibited at Solton Manor.
Absolutely, we love a joyful confetti moment! We simply ask that any confetti used on the grounds is biodegradable, such as real petals or dried flowers, to help us care for our beautiful surroundings.

Yes, Solton Manor offers disabled access to ensure all guests can comfortably enjoy the celebration.
While the historic Manor House retains some inherent accessibility limitations due to its age and listed status, the reception rooms on the ground floor are accessible, and we are excited to be adding an eleventh bedroom on the ground floor in 2026, complete with an ensuite bathroom, designed to provide comfortable, stair-free accommodation within the Manor House itself.
Our converted Dutch Barn wedding venue and Godric’s Garden outdoor ceremony space are both fully accessible, with easy entry and facilities for guests with mobility needs. The Dutch Barn also includes accessible restrooms with baby-changing facilities for added convenience.

From our on-site accommodation, The Manor House and Dovecote Cottage to Solton Fort play area we’ve thought of everything to help parents relax and children feel at home. In addition to the gardens there is large meadow, Famine Downs where you can organise rounders, cricket, crazy golf etc, However we always ask that children are supervised as there is water on site:

Can we decorate the day before our wedding?
We cannot guarantee access to the venue the day before your wedding, as this depends on other bookings and the arrangements you have made.
Please note that booking accommodation the night before your wedding does not automatically guarantee access to the Dutch Barn, Old Stables or outdoor ceremony spaces. Any early access must be agreed with Solton Manor in advance.

Our top tip for setting up your wedding tables
If you’re organising your own table decorations, we recommend preparing a separate box or folder for each table, containing everything needed for that particular setting, such as place cards, menus, favours and table numbers.
Label each box clearly with its table number or name. That way, you can give a friend or family member responsibility for one table at a time, making the whole process much quicker and easier.
When will the tables be ready?
Your caterer will normally deliver the crockery and cutlery on the wedding day, so these won’t necessarily be available when you begin decorating.
We usually ask caterers to deliver the table linen the day before, where possible, allowing the tables to be dressed in advance. However, arrangements vary between caterers, so please check directly with yours.
Please remember: If you’re planning to decorate the venue yourselves, let us know at your Final Details Meeting. We can then discuss access, timings and who will be responsible for setting everything up and removing it afterwards.
When can our suppliers access the venue?
Suppliers can access the Dutch Barn from 8am on your wedding day to begin styling and setting up.
Decorations, flowers and other styling items can be collected from 8am the following morning.
How do suppliers know where to go?
As a matter of courtesy, we personally contact every supplier approximately one week before your wedding to confirm their arrangements, including where to park, unload and access the relevant areas of the estate.

What do we need to discuss at our Final Details Meeting?
Please let us know who will be styling your wedding, what decorations you’re planning and who will be responsible for setting up and collecting everything afterwards.
If you’re using several suppliers, it’s worth confirming who is responsible for each element. For example, your florist may be arranging the centrepieces, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll also put out your place cards, favours or table numbers.

Yes, sparklers are permitted at Solton Manor, and they make for some truly magical photos, especially on the bridge or outside the Dutch Barn in the Crescent. However, for everyone’s safety, we ask that the following guidelines are followed:
Public liability: Responsibility for their safe use rests with you, the couple and/or the supplier (such as your photographer or planner) who is coordinating the sparkler moment.
Safety measures: We’re happy to provide a bucket of sand for safe disposal, please ask for this to be placed close to where sparklers will be lit to avoid any last-minute rush. Once finished, ensure all sparklers are fully extinguished and placed safely into the bucket.
Timing & location: Sparklers should only be used outdoors and ideally after dark for photographs, away from flammable materials and doorways.
Damage & liability: Any damage to the property caused by sparklers must be resolved by the couple, and where necessary, the damage deposit may be used to cover reasonable costs.
Insurance: We strongly recommend taking out wedding insurance for added peace of mind.

Yes — you can use smoke bombs at Solton Manor for your photography or videography, but there are a few important safety requirements you need to be aware off:
Public liability: Responsibility for their safe use rests with the couple and/or the supplier such as your photographer or videographer issuing them.
Safety measures: Like sparklers, we recommend that all smoke bombs are placed into a bucket of sand immediately after use. We are happy to supply the bucket of sand, but please ask for this to be placed near to where the planned smoke bombs are to be ignited so there isn’t a panic when you want to take the shot. If, for example, five smoke bombs are used, please ensure all five are safely extinguished and accounted for.
Damage and liability: Any damage to the property caused by smoke bombs must be resolved by the couple. In such cases, the couples damage deposit may be used to cover reasonable costs.
Insurance: We strongly advise couples to take out wedding insurance to ensure appropriate cover.

When you book, we’ll invite you to a virtual onboarding call to introduce you to our wedding and events portal. Your coordinator can help you work through practical details such as timelines, seating plans and the paperwork for booking your ceremony with Kent County Council. Yes. A dedicated Solton Manor wedding coordinator will guide you through the planning process and help make sure everything is in place for your wedding day. Your coordinator will usually be the person who leads your Final Details Meeting and supports you on the day itself.
When you book, we’ll invite you to a virtual onboarding call to introduce you to our wedding and events portal. Your coordinator can help you work through practical details such as timelines, seating plans and the paperwork for booking your ceremony with Kent County Council. They’ll also keep in touch with you and your suppliers, helping everyone stay up to date as your plans come together.
On your wedding day, your coordinator will usually arrive at 7am to open the Bell Tower Barn getting-ready suite, unless you’re staying at Solton Manor the night before. They’ll oversee the plans and the finishing touches, so you can relax and enjoy the day. After your speeches, our evening bar and events team will take over.
You’re also very welcome to join us at our open days and occasional wine-tasting events while you’re planning your celebration.

However, please note our licence allows amplified music in only designated ceremony areas such as the Dutch Barn, Old Stables, Godric’s Garden and Finet’s Woodlands.

The Solton Manor team will arrange the tables and chairs according to your agreed wedding table plan, which we are happy to help you with, please just ask.
Your florist, wedding stylist or other appointed suppliers are responsible for setting up their own decorations, floral arrangements and styling installations, including removing them afterwards.
If you’re decorating the venue yourselves, you’ll need to nominate someone to take responsibility for setting everything up and removing it. We recommend choosing someone other than you the couple so you can relax and enjoy your wedding day!
Absolutely! You’re very welcome to decorate the venue yourselves, although access will depend on availability and the arrangements you’ve booked.
Can we decorate the day before our wedding?
We cannot guarantee access to the venue the day before your wedding, as this depends on other bookings and the arrangements you have made.
Please note that booking accommodation the night before your wedding does not automatically guarantee access to the Dutch Barn, Old Stables or outdoor ceremony spaces. Any early access must be agreed with Solton Manor in advance.

Our top tip for setting up your wedding tables
If you’re organising your own table decorations, we recommend preparing a separate box or folder for each table, containing everything needed for that particular setting, such as place cards, menus, favours and table numbers.
Label each box clearly with its table number or name. That way, you can give a friend or family member responsibility for one table at a time, making the whole process much quicker and easier.
When will the tables be ready?
Your caterer will normally deliver the crockery and cutlery on the wedding day, so these won’t necessarily be available when you begin decorating.
We usually ask caterers to deliver the table linen the day before, where possible, allowing the tables to be dressed in advance. However, arrangements vary between caterers, so please check directly with yours.
Please remember: If you’re planning to decorate the venue yourselves, let us know at your Final Details Meeting. We can then discuss access, timings and who will be responsible for setting everything up and removing it afterwards.
When can our suppliers access the venue?
Suppliers can access the Dutch Barn from 8am on your wedding day to begin styling and setting up.
Decorations, flowers and other styling items can be collected from 8am the following morning.
How do suppliers know where to go?
As a matter of courtesy, we personally contact every supplier approximately one week before your wedding to confirm their arrangements, including where to park, unload and access the relevant areas of the estate.

What do we need to discuss at our Final Details Meeting?
Please let us know who will be styling your wedding, what decorations you’re planning and who will be responsible for setting up and collecting everything afterwards.
If you’re using several suppliers, it’s worth confirming who is responsible for each element. For example, your florist may be arranging the centrepieces, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll also put out your place cards, favours or table numbers.
By agreeing these details in advance, everyone knows what they’re doing, leaving you free to enjoy your celebrations!
Yes, Solton Manor offers a luxurious Pamper Suite in the Bell Tower Barn for you and your besties to prepare for your wedding day.
The suite, is located in the East Wing of the Manor House, is a beautifully designed space where you can relax and prepare in comfort and style.
It’s fully equipped with everything you need, including plenty of natural light for hair and makeup, comfortable seating, and mirrors to make getting ready a special part of your day. This room is available from 7 a.m. on the day of your wedding and includes hooks for your wedding and bridesmaid dresses.
Please ask your suppliers to park in the large carpark at the back of the large Dutch Barn – they need to remember when they arrive the car park might be empty but when they leave there will be other cars.
In addition to the main getting ready room there is a terrace, with a hot tub, a boot room with two fridges and a freezer.
As a destination wedding venue in Kent, with beautiful ceremony and reception spaces alongside overnight accommodation, Solton Manor is often booked well in advance, particularly for popular summer weekends and peak wedding season dates.
How early should we book our wedding?
Most couples book their wedding at Solton Manor approximately 18 to 24 months in advance, giving them the best opportunity to secure their preferred date, wedding package and accommodation.
If you have your heart set on a particular date, especially a Saturday between May and September, we’d recommend getting in touch as early as possible.
Can we book a last-minute wedding at Solton Manor?
Absolutely! We welcome both last-minute weddings and celebrations planned further ahead, subject to availability.
If you’re planning a legal wedding ceremony, you’ll also need to allow enough time to complete the necessary marriage formalities.
In England and Wales, couples generally need to give at least 30 days’ notice before their marriage, although additional requirements or longer waiting periods may apply depending on individual circumstances. Registrar availability is separate from venue availability, so it’s important to check that both Solton Manor and the registrars can accommodate your chosen date and ceremony time.
A little tip from us: If you’re flexible about your wedding date, consider a weekday or a date outside peak wedding season. You may discover more availability and some attractive package options.

If the Dutch Barn is not being used for another event the day before your wedding, you may be able to arrange access to set up your wedding breakfast.

From our on-site accommodation, The Manor House and Dovecote Cottage to Solton Fort play area we’ve thought of everything to help parents relax and children feel at home. Yes, at Solton Manor we understand that pets are part of the family, and we’re delighted to welcome well-behaved dogs other pets to Solton Manor. 🐾 Not only for your wedding day but also they can stay overnight in the snug on the ground floor of the Manor House. Plus they can stay in the Dovecote Cottage.

Yes, sparklers are permitted at Solton Manor, and they make for some truly magical photos, especially on the bridge or outside the Dutch Barn in the Crescent. However, for everyone’s safety, we ask that the following guidelines are followed:
Public liability: Responsibility for their safe use rests with you, the couple and/or the supplier (such as your photographer or planner) who is coordinating the sparkler moment.
Safety measures: We’re happy to provide a bucket of sand for safe disposal, please ask for this to be placed close to where sparklers will be lit to avoid any last-minute rush. Once finished, ensure all sparklers are fully extinguished and placed safely into the bucket.
Timing & location: Sparklers should only be used outdoors and ideally after dark for photographs, away from flammable materials and doorways.
Damage & liability: Any damage to the property caused by sparklers must be resolved by the couple, and where necessary, the damage deposit may be used to cover reasonable costs.
Insurance: We strongly recommend taking out wedding insurance for added peace of mind.

Yes — you can use smoke bombs at Solton Manor for your photography or videography, but there are a few important safety requirements you need to be aware off:
Public liability: Responsibility for their safe use rests with the couple and/or the supplier such as your photographer or videographer issuing them.
Safety measures: Like sparklers, we recommend that all smoke bombs are placed into a bucket of sand immediately after use. We are happy to supply the bucket of sand, but please ask for this to be placed near to where the planned smoke bombs are to be ignited so there isn’t a panic when you want to take the shot. If, for example, five smoke bombs are used, please ensure all five are safely extinguished and accounted for.
Damage and liability: Any damage to the property caused by smoke bombs must be resolved by the couple. In such cases, the couples damage deposit may be used to cover reasonable costs.
Insurance: We strongly advise couples to take out wedding insurance to ensure appropriate cover.
